SS38 Passo dello Stelvio

The project called "Una strada nella roccia" was born as a restyling and enhancement of the SS38 panoramic road, which connects the city of Bormio with the Stelvio Pass, an area characterized by impressive natural landscape and rich culture and tradition.

The main objective of the project is to give a new image to the road, tunnels, retaining walls and guard rails fully integrated in the surrounding natural context, in preparation of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. The local context plays a fundamental role in the whole project. All tunnels will be lined with architectural concrete after a structural reinforcement, with the main aim to integrate, to further enhance and embellish the mountain landscape.
